New York Air Brake Earns IRIS Certification
Watertown, NY, USA – November 9, 2009 –New York Air Brake (NYAB) has earned the International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) Certification from UNIFE, the Association of the European Rail Industry. Two NYAB facilities achieved certification – the Watertown, NY location and NYAB’s Kingston, Ont. subsidiary, Knorr Brake Limited.
“IRIS certification gives further recognition to the high standard of NYAB’s comprehensive quality management system” said J. Paul Morgan, NYAB president. “IRIS is of particular importance to our international customers and certification will support our international growth”.
Created by UNIFE and supported by operators, system integrators and equipment manufacturers, IRIS complements the internationally recognized ISO 9001 quality standard by introducing rail specific requirements. To become certified, companies must pass a comprehensive certification audit by approved third party auditors.
